Rappers Gaming the Ratings
No More

Rap Wars 5 Mic Rating SystemWe have recently closed a loophole in our ratings system and corrected raps that had their overall rating WAY TOO HIGH. We had a chink in our armor where rappers were able to rate themselves, which for the normal person shouldn’t be a big deal, I mean how many times are you really gonna rate yourself. Anyway, the 5-mic rating system isn’t where the gaming of the ratings came into play.

To get on the Top Rated screen in the Rap Wars app we combine QUALITY + QUANTITY. The quality part is the 5-mic rating, where we take the average rating from everyone that has rated a rap and so you get a number of gold mics from 0 to 5. Standard stuff. But that’s only half the story. The quantity part is popularity – how many times your rap has been played. And so we take the 5-mic rating and the number of plays and come up with an overall score that determines who gets to show up on the Top Rated screen – the more mics and the more plays you get, the better your ability to be a top rated rapper on Rap Wars.

It seems that some people figured out a way to play a rap over and over and over again to inflate the number of plays, and so we fixed it so they couldn’t do it any more. We also figured out where the bogus plays were coming from and corrected the raps to the real number of plays. Yeah, we could’ve kicked them out of Rap Wars, but we gave them credit for their ingeniuty.

  1. Rap Wars Says:

Just to make it clear, Rap Wars has been updated so that playing or rating your own rap will not be counted towards your rating. You will need to have other Rap Wars users listen to you and rate you. Keep it legit. Rap on.
